Master Sergeant Timothy
Horbach is a flight chief for the Passenger Operations section of the 88thAerial Port Squadron, 514th Air Mobility Wing, Air Force Reserve
Command, Joint Base McGuire-Dix- Lakehurst, NJ. As a flight chief, Sergeant Horbach ensures that all members of his section
are proficient in providing customer service at the pax terminal, screening passengers
in accordance with TSA standards, securing baggage, and transporting passengers
to departing/arriving aircraft. Previously, Sergeant Horbach was a Special Handling supervisor responsible for properly training members on inspecting
hazardous cargo, conducting joint inspections, and securing classified cargo
and registered mail. Additionally, Sergeant
Horbach manages the Explosive Safety Program and provides training for all 180
squadron members on the proper storing, handling, and transport of class
1.1,1.2,1.3 and 1.4 explosives.
Sergeant Horbach’s
military career began in 2011 when he enlisted as an Air Transportation Apprentice. Sergeant Horbach attended Basic Military Training
at Lackland Air Force Base, TX in April of 2012, where he graduated as an
Airman First Class in June of 2012. Sergeant
Horbach then attended the Air Transportation Apprentice Course at the 345thTraining Squadron, Fort Lee, VA and graduated in August of 2012. After completion of his technical school, Sergeant
Horbach was assigned to the 88th Aerial Port Squadron at Joint Base
McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, Since his
assignment to the 88th Aerial Port Squadron, Sergeant Horbach has
been activated and deployed twice in support of Operations Enduring Freedom,
Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, Inherent Resolve, Spartan Shield, Freedom’s
Sentinel, and Resolute Support Mission. His
first deployment was to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar in 2015-2016 with the 8thExpeditionary Air Mobility Squadron. His
second deployment was in 2020 at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait with the 387thAir Expeditionary Squadron, as a member of the Quick Reaction Team. Over the course of this tour, Sergeant Horbach
was forward deployed to Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, and Qatar. In his civilian career, Sergeant Horbach is a
New York State Court Officer and is a member of the agency’s Special Response Team
and Ceremonial Unit.
